About Us
Southeast Woodland Services has been in the business of herbicide application
for over two decades. Michael McCourry started Southeast Woodland
Services in 1985 after being employed as a professional forester for
6 years with Boise Cascade. Michael saw the need for an applicator that
would provide quality herbicide application at a reasonable price.
Since 1985, the company has grown from three or four employees to upwards
of 200 during the spray season. The company started out primarily as
a ground applicator for the forest industry but has grown into an industry
leader in the low volume application of herbicides for the utility right-of-way market.
Southeast Woodland Services right-of-way program started out as limited
application for a few electric cooperatives and has grown to include
customers such as Georgia Power, Duke Power, and Gulf Power.
Southeast Woodland Services also saw the need for a quality contractor to perform wood pole inspection and treatment and for nearly a decade has been providing this service to the utility market.
Our roots are in the forest industry and still provide tree planting, herbicide application and pre-commercial thinning for companies and individuals looking for quality.
Southeast Woodland Services currently works in the following states
with a regional manager in:
- North Carolina
- South Carolina
- Tennessee
- Georgia
- Alabama
- Mississippi
- Kentucky
- Florida
All this growth can be attributed to quality herbicide
application at a reasonable price, the same goal that Michael established
two decades ago.
Southeast Woodland Services right of way program is based on ground
applications with backpacks, which is a true "low volume" application.
This low volume approach allows for only the targeted species, i.e.
hardwoods and pines, to be treated. This type of application method
has numerous advantages:
- With low volume foliar, only the targeted species are treated.
This results in the power line retaining its green look.
- Low volume foliar application is also extremely low profile.
No large trucks, no noisy spray devices, only professional employees
with backpacks.
- Low volume foliar also allows for a lower application cost due
to the lower volume of mix being applied and is extremely effective
due to the higher concentration of herbicide being applied to each
individual plant.
Southeast Woodland Services guarantees our work!
We always have and always will strive for a 100% treatment, but that
is not always possible. Our standard guarantee is 95% treatment of the
targeted species on the first application. If we do not achieve 95%
we will return and retreat the area to insure the results are achieved.
We also have the backing from all the herbicide manufacturers such as
BASF, Dow AgroSciences, and DuPont. They know our work and our company
and will back up any applications that we make.
Quality application is Southeast Woodland Services number one goal as
a herbicide applicator - and always will be!
